The board of directors held their monthly meeting, via Zoom, on Thursday April 16th. Our main topic of discussion was how/if we will be moving forward with the 2020 season due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. All 10 members provided their thoughts on the current situation, the direction that CYL should go in regards to setting new start dates for the season, how we can ensure the continued safety of all players, fans, parents, volunteers, etc., and ideas of how we can still function as a business if we in fact cancel the season. As a group we have agreed, when the green light is given by local, state, and federal officials that we have met Phase 1 of the economy reopening guidelines, we will move forward with the season. When those dates may be is still up in the air, but we can provide a full season of programs with a start date as late as mid-June. With a later start date, discussions are currently underway on the status of the parade and opening day ceremonies as well as a new drawing date for the raffle. There are many other events that happen during our Spring/Summer season and planning for changes to those events are in discussions as well.
Centerville Youth League operates completely on the support of the community and our participants thru donations, sponsorships, registrations, and our annual Spring/Summer fundraiser. Once Phase 1 has been met, we will announce the pickup date for raffle tickets.
The next Centerville Youth League Board Meeting will be scheduled for the 1st week of May, and updates from that meeting will be communicated with everyone via email, Facebook, and our website.
